FAQs

We love to chat. But to save you some time, we've put together a few answers to the questions we hear most. Still have something on your mind? Reach out and we'll get back to you right away.

Who do you typically work with?

We work primarily with people who are approaching or just entering retirement and want a trusted advisor to help them navigate it. A lot of our clients come to us during major life transitions — divorce, the loss of a spouse, or simply realizing they need a plan. If you're not sure whether we're a good fit, reach out and we'll figure it out together.

How do you charge for your services?

We charge a straightforward fee based on the assets we manage — no commissions, no hidden costs, no surprises. Financial planning is included at no extra charge. What you see is what you get.

What does working with SMB actually look like?

It starts with a conversation. We'll sit down with you, walk you through your complete financial picture, and build a plan that makes sense for your situation. From there, we handle the day-to-day management and check in regularly so you always know where you stand.

Are your advisors fiduciaries?

Every advisor at SMB is a registered fiduciary and Certified Financial Planner. That means we're legally required to put your interests ahead of our own — always. It's a fun word to say, and an even better standard to be held to.

How do most of your clients find you?

Honestly, mostly through word of mouth. Our clients come to us through referrals from attorneys, credit unions, and organizations like Kaiser Permanente — or simply because a friend wouldn't stop talking about us. If someone sent you here, that's probably why.
